Brian Wong

Mr. Wong is the Canadian business development advisor to the Special Situations Group. He began advising Oaktree in 2018 and has over 30 years of investment, investment banking, leveraged finance and private equity experience. Mr. Wong was most recently a global investment advisory and corporate finance consultant. Prior thereto, he was the chief investment officer of Liberty Bankers Life Insurance Company, American Benefit Life Insurance Company and The Capitol Life Insurance Company. Mr. Wong’s previous experience consists of serving as an associate director in the technology investment banking global venture capital coverage group of Bear Stearns & Co. Inc.; a co-head and director of the business and real estate services group of JMP Securities LLC; a senior vice president in the real estate securities group of Jefferies & Company, Inc.; a principal of a family office focused on private equity investments in North America; a vice president and associate in the corporate finance department of Jefferies & Company, Inc.; and an associate and analyst in the mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance departments of Drexel Burnham Lambert, Inc. Mr. Wong graduated from the University of Western Ontario, where he received B.A. degrees in economics and in honours business administration. He currently serves on the advisory board of Pangaea Ventures Ltd., a venture capital firm.
